Leonard puts one leg down on the bed as he rolls to the side, the other still propped up. Draw him like one of your French girls indeed.

[ where leonard's all smooth lines and charm, ray is inelastic and heavy. there's no stealth to the way the suit clunks against the floor as he moves. the process is always the same: helmet, chest piece, greaves, etc. piece by piece to get reassembled and shrunken back down.

And I assert: chafing.

[Leonard just smiles and finally sits up properly. Well. Properly for him, meaning that his ankle is draped over his thigh and he's leaning back against the wall in what should look like he's slouching. It does not.]

If I see your other self on the flip-side, I'm going to kill him. That's what you want.

[ mid-greave, ray stills for a moment at the thought. it should make him feel better, right? ]

It is, but...

[ he stands straight again, to place the armor to the side. but what? ]

I still don't think you going over there is a good idea. Not alone, not without-- backup of some kind.

[Leonard weighs his communicator in his hand and then suddenly flings it across the room at the mirror. Glass breaks and once more his mirror is broken. Nothing new around here.]

You think I'm actually safer when I hold your hand?

[ ray winces, and only barely holds in a curse. ]

Well, first: the buddy system is proven to work. [ and because he really might be a human-shaped golden retriever, ray thumps across the room to fetch the device. ] And second: don't you always work with a partner?

Nah. And even if I did, he ain't here.

[He watches Ray, pushing himself up a little.]

Careful you don't cut yourself.

Can't you just find another one?

[ it feels weird, being asked not to hurt himself when that's what ray is trying to ask of len. he's not careful at all, trusting his gloves to do the dirty work as he picks through it. ]

Or, maybe I could go over first and you could take care of my mirror and then follow?

Now we know what we definitely won't be doing.

[Ray's plans? Not a good success rate. Very high rate of him getting a gun against his head.]

You think I can't handle myself?

I didn't say that.

[ huff huff. ray stands back up, device successfully retrieved. he waggles it, shaking of any sharp clingers-on. ]

I'm just not sure how you aren't going to be noticed. Like, immediately.

And I'm not sure how you don't get punched more. Like, all the time.

[He mirrors Ray's sentence structure to mock him, but his heart isn't really in it, so he just shrugs.]

We all have our tricks of the trade.

I'm used to upsetting people. I didn't get punched much until I put on the exosuit.

[ his eyes roll but like len's tone, the motion lacks any edge. ray tosses the device toward len, and then resumes casually stripping down to reveal the contact-point suit that sits atop his casual clothing. ]

And anyone who looks at you is going to know you're not Leo.

[Leonard has seen the strip show before, so he doesn't really react at all at this point, simply catching the device and then continuing to throw it to himself casually.]

And why's that?

[ he almost doesn't want to say it, and levels a skeptical look at leonard as he pulls the boots from his feet. ]

[He shrugs, looking as unconcerned as he can, which is very.

Truth is, he wants to know more about his mirror in almost morbid curiosity. He wouldn't have asked. But this is an easy opportunity.]

Let's hear it.

[ well ray can't just pony it up without being incredibly irritating, so he hesitates still. ]

[ try to. right. yeah like that's the reality here god ray you are the biggest of idiots ]

I never "try to" punch anyone, Raymond. You should know that.

[Who's trying?

He punctuates the statement with a quirk of an eyebrow and waits for Ray to talk.]

[ he was hoping for the opposite promise, but really. it's his own damn fault. if this is what it takes to not have to go through leonard dying again, sure. fine. ]

Well, he's nice. For starters. He doesn't make me feel like I'm being ... examined all the time.

[This is why he wanted Ray in the room. The sarcasm is obvious this way.]

[ ok that wasn't so bad. think, ray. other differences... oh. duh. ]

I'm also not sure he ever uses sarcasm. Or even knows what it is.

[Leonard's eyes are on the communicator as he throws it up in the air again, but his eyes flicker back to Ray. He catches it anyway.]

And he doesn't make bitchy comments that people have to parse all the time.

[ grumble grumble. ]

[There's a brief smile, for whatever reason. It's been a while since he's been called bitchy.]

I reiterate my previous statement.
