He's not exactly careful. I took our conversation to private when it seemed to get too personal, but I don't know if they paid any attention to it.

Well, I'm the only one who actually knows what the kid's talking about. If I'm being honest, which I rarely am, I'm kinda juggling both guilt and righteous indignation over here, and I'm not a big fan of either. Not that my feelings matter, because the pressing thing is getting him to keep quiet.

He doesn't really have any reason to keep quiet, does he?

Anything you're bribing or threatening with?

Not really. If he got his way, I think he'd shout it from the rooftops. Take out an ad on TV. Rent one of those planes that pull the banners around.

He doesn't trust me enough for bribery. But I did threaten to go to the authorities if he tried to go all preemptive vigilante justice on anyone. Who'd expect a rogue to call the cops on a superhero, right?

He told me he'd not go after me for things I haven't done yet, but he'll apparently be watching me.

Suppose I could keep him distracted. Maybe.

He wants to punish me for my wrongdoings. Would have to do something wrong to give him that.

I'd ask something like "are you sure that's a good idea," but, well, it's you, so I figure you already assume it is.

If I can make it work the way I want, it's at least something to do.

Besides, the last thing Mick needs are stressful accusations.

[Not elaborating, not saying if he ever did, not specifying why it matters at all.]

I'd rather stay down by myself. No company needed.

Well, hey, I am. Consider it a "Groundhog Day" kind of scenario, maybe. If I know things they don't, it's almost like getting a do-over.

You all feel betrayed by my existence, so I'm not about to lose any sleep about that.

Well now that's just not true. I actually kind of like you.

If you say so. Still doesn't mean that either of the other two were about to put their trust in me, so I'm not that guilt-ridden.

I never let people need more than they need to. I've always been more show than tell.

There's just too many variables I can't control here. Guess I'll make the best of it somehow, though.

I've yet to ever have people be grateful for me deciding things for their own good. So just don't expect any of that. Getting punched is more likely.
