With the kinda demands you're making of yourself, you've got a lot to live up to. What do they say? To err is human. Pretty sure it's Kryptonian too.

Of course I have a lot to live up to. I'm Superman's cousin. He's Earth's greatest hero. It's all just--so effortless for him.

[ she'll deny it, but kara's eyes get a little watery. ]

He's just so good at doing this whole hero thing. On top of that he's got a great career, a great wife... Even when he screws up, everyone thinks the sun shines out his butt. And I'm a mess with a short temper who tries and gets soda thrown in her face.

[ none of this is really about sara. sure, kara is definitely afraid of getting in over her head. but most of this? is just issues she's been carrying around for too long and not been able to set down. sara's just an easier problem to talk about. ]

[ kara scowls and huffs, gently reaching up to pet bruce. ]

It blows. [ that feels like a massive understatement. ] Sometimes I wish I didn't care so much.

Yeah. [He's not going to argue the point, instead he simply nods.] It sucks.

[At least they're in agreement?] Drinking never actually helps either, for the record.

Cute hamster. [He doesn't reach out to pet him, but he can acknowledge preciousness.]

Yeah, I kinda figured that out a while ago. Never got drunk, but I did used to try and dance away all my problems.

[ kara scoops her hamster up in the palm of her hand and holds him up closer to len. ]

His name's Bruce. [ squeak! ] He's very sweet.

Can't say I've ever tried that. How did that go?

[After only the slightest hesitation, he actually reaches out with one hand, running the tip of a finger along the hamster's tiny head.]

I'll believe that. Axel's an ass.

Not so great. It was fun, but only for the couple hours I was at a club. Then I started feeling miserable all over again.

[ bruce seems very pleased with the pets. ]
