[ that'd be useful to know, wouldn't it? barry will openly admit he's taken snart simply knowing where he lives for granted, showing up in the house, drinking from a mug that was meant to be his. ]
You'd seriously read "War and Peace" over "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"? Dude.
[ not the point, barry. ]
Door's open. :)
[ but he does go and grab some snacks — a bowl of popcorn, a pizza, bottles of soft drink, croissants, and a cake — and places them on a table in his room. ]
[ speaking of his room, it lacks any kind of distinct barry allen tones. white and minimalistic, there's not even a poster on a wall of his favourite pop stars. when snart comes up, he'll find the door unlocked, as promised, and barry pulling a mirror as tall as him from his closet. ]
Still, he makes his way to Barry's room and opens without knocking, watching from the doorframe how Barry moves the mirror. He looks around the room, brow slowly furrowing. Not what he expected. As if he hasn't already known his hero's mental state, there's confirmation.
It's not as if he has room to judge, given his own room.]
[ moving the mirror would be easier if he was doing it at top speed, but he doesn't know how well these mirrors hold out against his powers. sometimes glass shatters. sometimes he ends up catapulting right into the glass and earning himself a bruise that lasts for less than two seconds. ]
[ thankfully, the mirror he has is light, even though it still takes some effort to drag it along the floor. ]
[ looking over his shoulder, he gives snart just a small smile — they're not friends, but they're not mere strangers or enemies — and stands to his full height after he pulls the long mirror to where he thinks it sits best. hands on his hips, he looks at it, and hates that he sees himself reflected back. ]
Yeah. [ he glances around his room as though he hasn't seen it before. awkwardly, he gains his bearings, and he's grabbed a handful of popcorn from a bowl. mouth full: ] I got snacks.
[Leonard side-steps the mirror so his own image is hardly reflected in it and for the split-second it is, he keeps his head turned away. He looks at Barry after he's stepped around to his other side, then grabs a handful of popcorn for himself.]
Good call.
[He eats slowly, his other arm curled around his hip, loosely holding himself as he shifts his weight on one foot.]
So, I'm not really used to doing things like this. Should we just... Go for it?
[ it's clear barry's not even sure himself. he hasn't tried to phase through any mirrors, despite living in a world of wonderland where the looking glass is a door to another world. for someone who loves alice's adventures, he hasn't quite embraced the story just yet. ]
I'll just try and phase through and … We'll see if that works. [ he lifts his shoulders, not quite sure. he needs cisco or wells to bounce this idea off of, but he knows the former wouldn't be so sure and the latter would express with passion how idiotic he's being. ]
[ barry grabs a handful of popcorn himself, if only to calm his own nerves, and walks toward the mirror. hands empty of his snack, he presses his palms against the surface and concentrates. his hands begin to blur with vibrations, but barry never once slips through. ]
[ barry does his best not to become openly frustrated, so he grits his teeth and attempts to channel said frustration into phasing through the mirror. ]
[ which still doesn't work, by the way. at this point, he pulls back from it, taking a step, and looks at the mirror with his brows furrowed. his reflection looks perplexed and aggravated. ]
I've never tried phasing through a mirror because I've never had to, but ... [ he shakes his head, crossing his arms against his chest. ] Wonderland's different from home. At least, it should be. [ he turns to look at snart. ] Right?
Pretty different. Never turned back into a child before. [For starters. He moves closer, just enough to touch the surface of the mirror himself, while not actually in its vision. No reflection.] Maybe it just won't work that way, even for you.
[Stood to reason that there'd be a fail-safe like that.]
[ barry allen's going to phase through that mirror even if it takes him twenty years to do it. but maybe for now he should retire that cape and take a step back, which he does with reluctance. though he thinks to question snart about his comment of being turned into a child, it's not the time or place. perhaps over christmas dinner. ]
[ he looks disappointed. ] Maybe it's like Snow White. You have to say some rhyme or ... [ he looks to the mirror, sees himself with his hands empty of any possible solution. ] Maybe a white rabbit has to hop into it or something.
Mirror, mirror on the wall? [A snort, but less to make fun of Barry and more because that's the absurdity of their situation - it might be true. Leonard shakes his head and offers a shrug.]
Friend of mine has a lot of bunnies, if that'd help.
[ he keeps an eye on the mirror and finds himself disappointed it doesn't seem to open itself up at the rhyme. perhaps if snart recited it with a little more flair ... ]
[ barry looks to him with his brow arched, expression one that's incredibly surprised. ] I don't know what I find harder to believe. You have a friend, you have a friend with bunnies, or the fact that may like bunnies.
What's so hard to believe about me having friends? I thought I had "good inside me". [The air quotes are only done very lazily, Leonard lifting one hand and lightly wriggling two fingers. He can see the surprise at the bunnies, but friendship? Barry's understanding of him seems haphazard even at the best of time.]
[ will barry allen ever stop being the biggest support of "there's good inside of you, you just have to find it!"? no. when it comes to snart, he'll never stop singing that song, because he's witnessed it. barry allen believes in the impossible, and he knows that he can, at least, trust snart to have his back in some situations. he's not the cool, unaffected villain he wants to be; barry's never been keen to let him believe it after how snart's thawed toward him. ]
[ but will he easily believe snart's a sociable creature with normal habits? no. ]
But you just don't strike me as the type to admit you have friends ... Or even friends with bunnies. You're like a lone wolf, full of lone...ness.

Now now?
[ seriously, barry. ]
[ snart'll receive these texts one on top of the other: ]
Okay.
WAIT.
I need to get some snacks.
Do you ... snack?
[ why barry even bothers when he'll be back within a second is beyond anyone. ]
TEXT.
How about you tell me what room you're in before you run off?
[Ironically, dealing with a speedster requires a lot of patience.]

ETA? Do I have time to get snacks?

[He's on his way already, but still.]
Take some time though, a lot of the Russian names sound alike.
