"I know what I'm doing." Mick informed him around a mouthful of pie, not even really taking Leonard seriously. He was a worried. He always worried. And Mick just thought this was another one of his little overthinking issues. Mick was careful, it just felt -- good? It was like a nice tingling feeling. He got so stressed at home, school was awful and the best thing in his life, he couldn't be honest about. He couldn't even be himself around people in case he got his ass kicked. Whenever he set a fire, it was like an outburst of emotions, all the stress and tension drained away. He needed the fire. He wanted it. "Stop being a worried all the damn time, it's fine. I got it under control." Mostly. "I'm not an idiot, just trust me. Okay?"
"You know I can't stop that," Leonard told him, because that was as obvious as Mick not stopping his obsession with fire. it was who he was, at his very core. Thinking about every variable and wanting to control as many as possible. "Just call me up next time you want to go for the lighter fluid, yeah? It's more fun when you get to show off and I promise to only stop things if they get dangerous."
"you wanna burn some tyres? I like that one. Smells nice." The smell of burning rubber was always exciting. Still, Mick finished off his pie and turned his head to Leonard, smiling a little. "I promise. I'll call next time I wanna party, you can come watch. Just don't be a downer and ruin my fun." Leonard had a habit of putting it out before it even got a chance to get started.
"I wanna burn whatever you feel like burning. Just don't burn anything you'll regret." Mostly he was worried about Mick burning himself and not even caring. He didn't need that. He didn't want that. Mick was never reacting to fire the way it was natural. He understood why, he had watched him and he had read up on pyromania. Only made him worry more.
"I won't, mom." Mick joked with an amused smile as he raised his arm and gave Leonard a half hug, just a little bit of contact, not linger. Just so they didn't look weird. "Now shut up and eat your pie, it's gonna go cold." And nothing was better than warm pie freshly made.
