"Stop trashing on my baby or you're walking." Mick growled as he got into his car. It was a long ordeal to get it to work. It made the loudest noises, had to be revved a lot, black smoke burst out of the engine and flooded into the car but finally, it started, backfiring a few times before it took off. The heating didn't work but to prevent it from fogging up, Mick had to crack up the AC and the blower, which meant it was kind of like driving around in an unstable and smoke filled meat locker.
"I'm stealing you a better car for your birthday." Because this was just embarrassing and dangerous. Leonard coughed and decided to maybe make it an early birthday present. He turned on the radio, circling through the channels. Nothing worthy there. "Just let me out a few blocks away, don't want to scare of the rich kids."
"What? No. I love my baby. She just needs a little love and care, she'll be fine." He stroked the dash tenderly and the front panel almost slipped loose. It was being held on with duct tape and chewing gum at this point. "Shut up, they'd love my baby. Old and crappy is in now. It's like... what do they call it? Hipster. I'm retro." Or dirt poor and unashamed of it because he could kick the asses of anyone who mentioned it.
"Your car is held together by prayers and I'm an atheist." Not a prayer in him. Though the sounds that car made was making him regret that. "Whatever. Just keep an eye on your phone, Mick, I'll text you anything interesting. Try not to sext me this time."
"I got bored, my car only has three stations and one of them is smooth jazz. If I put the sports channel on, my dash light comes on." This car was a non stop thrill ride. Mick was careful not to pull up by the school but in this area, he really stood out. He pulled his car up in the car park of a coffee shop not far from the school, his car looking a right mess next to all the new shiny cars. Mick turned off his engine and sat back. "Have fun at school, hope you makes lots of new friends."
"Thanks, mom." Leonard rolled his eyes, but reached over to trail his hand along Mick's thigh for a few moments before getting out. He walked a few steps, straightened his clothes and decided that he looked preppy enough to head straight for school. This would be fun, he actually enjoyed pulling a con like this every now and then.
