[ snart doesn't need a cold gun to protect anyone. he has his brains and his tenacity, and barry's always kind of admired that about him. nothing really stops him from getting a job done, which has become the bane of his existence at times. ]
[ he asks to pry, but mostly because having an ally doesn't hurt. ]
[ he thinks of heatwave, and how the two had tried to use both extremes of temperature to take him down. but barry has to trust snart. if he wanted to hurt him, he would've a long time ago. either in wonderland as it is, or in an event where he has the advantage and means to. ]
[ it isn't lost on him even when they'd been in genosha they'd been allies. ]
I want to cross over. At least I want to know how it's done. Ideally I want to steal something from the Queen. Other than her Heart, that would be too on the nose.
[ going to the mirror world has been something that has lingered in barry's mind for a while now. he's wanted to see what it's like, note the differences, perhaps even meet his own mirror. but he's been so focused on getting out he hasn't tried to go further in. ]
Heard about the Trickster thing. Not about the phasing. Convenient. I guess when all you have is a hammer, every problem gets solved by speed. Versatile.
Worth a try. But what am I supposed to do, just watch and look at myself in the mirror? Because I've never been the vain type.
[ it's a thought he can stow away for another time to explore, but barry doesn't know if it's possible. the potential of his abilities has reached far greater than he ever imagined. all he thought of himself was he was a particularly fast runner. ]
That doesn't mean the magic of the mirror wouldn't be weak as I'm forcing myself through. If it's really like the Looking Glass, it should be a door.
[ as much as barry loves to pun, his heart's not in that one. he doesn't need to distract snart from peeling back any layers when he's already done just that. ]
You can come to my room. Unless you prefer the mirror in yours.
[ that'd be useful to know, wouldn't it? barry will openly admit he's taken snart simply knowing where he lives for granted, showing up in the house, drinking from a mug that was meant to be his. ]
You'd seriously read "War and Peace" over "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"? Dude.
[ not the point, barry. ]
Door's open. :)
[ but he does go and grab some snacks — a bowl of popcorn, a pizza, bottles of soft drink, croissants, and a cake — and places them on a table in his room. ]
[ speaking of his room, it lacks any kind of distinct barry allen tones. white and minimalistic, there's not even a poster on a wall of his favourite pop stars. when snart comes up, he'll find the door unlocked, as promised, and barry pulling a mirror as tall as him from his closet. ]
Still, he makes his way to Barry's room and opens without knocking, watching from the doorframe how Barry moves the mirror. He looks around the room, brow slowly furrowing. Not what he expected. As if he hasn't already known his hero's mental state, there's confirmation.
It's not as if he has room to judge, given his own room.]
[ moving the mirror would be easier if he was doing it at top speed, but he doesn't know how well these mirrors hold out against his powers. sometimes glass shatters. sometimes he ends up catapulting right into the glass and earning himself a bruise that lasts for less than two seconds. ]
[ thankfully, the mirror he has is light, even though it still takes some effort to drag it along the floor. ]
[ looking over his shoulder, he gives snart just a small smile — they're not friends, but they're not mere strangers or enemies — and stands to his full height after he pulls the long mirror to where he thinks it sits best. hands on his hips, he looks at it, and hates that he sees himself reflected back. ]
Yeah. [ he glances around his room as though he hasn't seen it before. awkwardly, he gains his bearings, and he's grabbed a handful of popcorn from a bowl. mouth full: ] I got snacks.
[Leonard side-steps the mirror so his own image is hardly reflected in it and for the split-second it is, he keeps his head turned away. He looks at Barry after he's stepped around to his other side, then grabs a handful of popcorn for himself.]
Good call.
[He eats slowly, his other arm curled around his hip, loosely holding himself as he shifts his weight on one foot.]
So, I'm not really used to doing things like this. Should we just... Go for it?
[ it's clear barry's not even sure himself. he hasn't tried to phase through any mirrors, despite living in a world of wonderland where the looking glass is a door to another world. for someone who loves alice's adventures, he hasn't quite embraced the story just yet. ]
I'll just try and phase through and … We'll see if that works. [ he lifts his shoulders, not quite sure. he needs cisco or wells to bounce this idea off of, but he knows the former wouldn't be so sure and the latter would express with passion how idiotic he's being. ]
[ barry grabs a handful of popcorn himself, if only to calm his own nerves, and walks toward the mirror. hands empty of his snack, he presses his palms against the surface and concentrates. his hands begin to blur with vibrations, but barry never once slips through. ]
[ barry does his best not to become openly frustrated, so he grits his teeth and attempts to channel said frustration into phasing through the mirror. ]
[ which still doesn't work, by the way. at this point, he pulls back from it, taking a step, and looks at the mirror with his brows furrowed. his reflection looks perplexed and aggravated. ]
I've never tried phasing through a mirror because I've never had to, but ... [ he shakes his head, crossing his arms against his chest. ] Wonderland's different from home. At least, it should be. [ he turns to look at snart. ] Right?

Don't need the gun. But I like it and this place can get heated.
You're not my target, Barry. Relax. Chill.

[ it isn't lost on him even when they'd been in genosha they'd been allies. ]
Do one of your targets happen to be a mirror?
[ let's just run right into that topic, hey? ]
TEXT.
Much.
TEXT.
[ it's a little difficult to believe snart may not have a target, but he has to be a man with a plan just in case someone does. ]
[ let's just send another quick text. god forbid snart makes one of his dad jokes. ]
Are you expecting to have a target?

Maybe I can phase through the mirrors.
TEXT.
[Hm.]
A few exceptions aside.
Phase through it? Walk me through that. What's it mean?
TEXT.
[ if he was saying this face-to-face, that'd end with a question mark. ]
Trickster once put a bomb on my arm, kind of like the Speed situation. I had to get it off. I phased through a wall, and the bracelet fell off.
Maybe I can get over to the other side.

If I bump my head on a mirror, I'll blame it on you.

Where do you want to try?

Now?

Now now?
[ seriously, barry. ]
[ snart'll receive these texts one on top of the other: ]
Okay.
WAIT.
I need to get some snacks.
Do you ... snack?
[ why barry even bothers when he'll be back within a second is beyond anyone. ]
TEXT.
How about you tell me what room you're in before you run off?
[Ironically, dealing with a speedster requires a lot of patience.]

ETA? Do I have time to get snacks?

[He's on his way already, but still.]
Take some time though, a lot of the Russian names sound alike.
